Ashford Volunteer Centre is a local charity that provides a range of services to the communities across the borough of Ashford, such as volunteer brokerage, transport scheme, befriending scheme, men's shed, Macmillan support café and more  . The centre is based at Berwick House, a two-storey building that hosts various activities and events for people who are elderly, have mobility issues or are touched by cancer.

However, there is a problem with the lift at Berwick House. The lift is over 30 years old and gets used on a daily basis by residents of the borough who need it to access the first floor. The lift has been breaking down frequently and needs considerable refurbishing or repair that will cost approximately £50k. The current lift is also limited by its single-supplier parts that are expensive and hard to obtain.

This is why Ashford Volunteer Centre needs our help to raise funds for a new lift. A new lift will ensure that everyone can access the first floor and its services without any hassle or delay. A new lift will also be more reliable, efficient and safe than the old one.

I'm supporting this cause by contributing £1000 from my Ashford Borough Council Ward Member Grant Fund. This fund supports projects for children, young people and families, participation in sports, and improvements to community facilities accessible to residents from Repton ward.

You can also support Ashford Volunteer Centre by playing the Ashford Community Lottery. This is a weekly online lottery that gives you a chance to win up to £25k while supporting local causes. 60p from every £1 spent goes directly to the charity of your choice. You can choose Ashford Volunteer Centre as your charity when you buy your tickets online.

Together we can make a difference for Ashford Volunteer Centre and its users. Please join me in supporting this worthy cause and help them reach their target for a new lift.
