107,000 Trees Planted and Counting...

Ashford Borough Council is still participating in The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), a special tree planting project that was launched to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. The council aims to plant 135,500 trees by the end of 2023, one for each resident in the borough.

The council began planting trees in late 2021 and has already planted over 107,000 trees across the borough, in collaboration with parish councils and private landowners who have helped plant trees and hedgerows on their land and in their communities.

I greatly enjoyed meeting Edward Barham to see the fantastic tree and hedgerow planting works taking place at the Hole Park Estate, as part of Ashford Borough Council's contribution to Queen’s Green Canopy. Much work goes into planting and caring for these trees and I am thankful to everyone who has helped us on our mission so far. We are well on the way to our target of 135,500 trees being planted across the Borough - that's one for every resident!
